Discover their different forms of expression and physical language and find out how everyday objects can take on new life in this hands-on workshop with actor/director/award-winning practitioner and Artichoke Artgroup's Director Florence Leon (La Mancha School of Image and Gesture).

Modern Foreign Languages - Learning through Song

with Shelly Ambury

10.30-3.30

We will be using Transferable language songs as a starting point

We don't assume that all teachers know French or Spanish

A great way to pick up language unconsciously (the way we learn to speak our mother tongue)

Songs with actions can connect language to vocabulary

Singing is fun and everyone can do it - we also learn more when we are relaxed and we then associate this to learning the language too

Singing creates unity of purpose

You don't need expensive resources

Singing is a great memory aid

Traditional songs give a sense of the rhythm of the language and are a subtle way of introducing cultural understanding

February Coffee Mornings

Hello all,

The next arts education coffee morning will take place Thursday 3rd February at Café Nero, Bond Street.

This will be the LAST coffee morning! Following many requests to move these meetings to afternoons, as of the first Thursday of March the coffee morning will become afternoon tea and will take place in the Dome foyer at 4:30pm. I will of course send out a reminder nearer the time.

So – as always spread the word – no agenda, no minutes, just an informal and relaxed way to meet and chat with those working in the arts in and educational, community or social context.

Thanks,

Bex
